Advertising Notice - Disclosure

On January 1st 1978 the Business Advertising Disclosure Order 1977 came into effect. This requires that all adverts placed by people that seek to sell goods in the course of business have to make this fact clear. This applies whether the advertiser is acting on their own behalf or for some other person in the course of whose business goods are to be sold. 

Consumers should be able to tell whether an advertisement relates to a sale by a trade or private seller and it is the responsibility of the advertiser to comply with the Order. It is an offence for which you could be prosecuted not to advertise that you are a Trader.
